Sydney’s Hippest New Place To Stay?

I’ve been in talks about doing some branding work with beautiful homeware brand The Country Trader. So I was very excited to get a sneak preview of their new Guest Residence apartments in Darlinghurst on Tuesday.

5-star Sydney is normally flashy (with a capital F) but these short-lets are going to be in every black book of the truly savvy visitor.

Quietly romantic, full of whimsical charm and earthy luxury; they occupy an 1890′s Victorian terrace on a leafy street. Worlds away in atmosphere (but a moments walk) from the buzzing hub of the Kings Cross nightlife and some of Sydney’s best foodie spots- Crowne St, Macleay St, et al.

Designed for the sophisticated and hotel-tired jet-setter, the atmosphere is chicly private and pied-à-terre. Sydney tastemaker Geoff Clark (founder of The Country Trader), has commandeered the design so that each of the three boutique apartments feels like its own unique universe. With the amenities to match. As well as high-speed internet, full fitted kitchens, laundry facilities etc; each has a custom built terrace so you can soak up the stars (or the sun).

The high-ceilinged walls all follow a glamourous inky palate, which contrasts with the sparklingly crisp natural light of the city. Rustic textures, fine antiques, low slung chandeliers and beautiful works of art have been used to characterise each room with no attention to detail spared. They even provide beach towels and picnic baskets, if you please.

I also met Robert- the concierge with a charming glint in his eye- who having lived in Sydney for 30 years, knows exactly what direction to point you in for the best coffee/lunch/tequila in town.

Discerning yet totally comfortable, full of Parisian charm but Sydney through and through; I’ll be swiftly pointing all my visitors in the direction of staying there. And then moving in with!
